Dear All.
please apologies for writing in English.
I'm new on this forum and I'll be in few months a new ( hopefully) happy owner of a Hymer Grand Canyon S 4x4. ( so new Sprinter)

I've read tons of topics about change tires from 225/75 r16 to 245/75 r16 but I still have a doubt: :?:
I'm based in Italy and, for now, I think I've found out a way to register the new tires dimension on the vehicle registration certificate ( Mercedes approval seems not necessary) BUT what I don't understand is if it's really necessary to pass by Mercedes for the RH8 code (For the ESP etc..) in order to have a correct function of the Van...
Talking to the Mercedes this could be a problem (at least here in italy)

In some posts on this forum seems not ( for the new Sprinter) but I'd love to be sure

thank you in advance for your replay

Welcome, I drive the 245/75 R16 ex works Hymer without the RH8 code, but limited to 120 km/h, as the assistants supposedly no longer work well above that.

Best regards
Bernd

To better understand: did you limited?
or MB before permit to change from 225/75
or It's limited "from" Hymer when you bought it?

The speed limit (MD3 ) results from the use of AT tires, with size 245/75R16, RH8 coding must be done because it is required for the correct operation of the speed and odometer, as well (most importantly) ESP and therefore 4ETS, as well as all other safety systems. Unfortunately, in the homologation of the Spinter 3.5 t this size is not included and therefore permitted (for emission reasons), nevertheless it can be coded because in the 4.1 (USA) variant it is a standard size.
MB Sprinter W906 - 315 4x4 OA ; ZG4 ; R1-3250 - ZS; HA-QS; US - UFS VA ; UFS VG ; 180PS

So it means that I can not swap from 245/75 to 225/75 when I want ( for example, I go for a trip in which there are something like 1000km on the highway where 245/75 are not useful )...
I should go all the time back to MB?

Do you mean that the Hymer GCS doesn’t have the correct code (RH8) for the 245/75 tires BUT just the 120kmh limitation ?

RH8 coding should be done but must not be done. I didn´t have a RH8 coding either but 245/75 R16 (BFG) only in car documents with no speed limit. Car documents shows max speed at 161 km/h.

The 225/75 tires are still in the CoC stage 1 but not sure if i could swap if i want.

However it´s not a Hymer but cames from manufacturer with this configuration. And i will code the RH8 some days.

No by myself. But it´s some tricky because of coding has to be made in several ecu´s. Whereas removing high speed limit is just one klick.

So you still have the RG8 code for the 225/75?
If yes how did you discover it?
